This is a list of web-sites I've found helpful in my genealogy "quest". If you think I'm missing anything, please let me know (see the Contact Me page).

	BMD Certificate Exchange A web-site to list any unwanted certificates and similar documents and potentially discover some related ones.
	Ancestral Villages A web-site where people can list their family interests by village.
	Ancestry.com A wide range of (global) records.
	British Genealogical Forums Discussion on all counties, areas and aspects.
	Capital Punishment UK All sorts of records and background information relating to capital punishment in the UK.
	Ancestry.co.uk Tthe UK site appears to only give UK records. But a subscription to either makes the other work. Well worth a browse, particularly the census records.
	Data Wales An interesting website with all sorts of background and family history information.
	Derbyshire Criminal Records Historic records of trouble-makers and criminals.
	Ellis Island Arrivals in the USA through Ellis Island, 1892-1924.
	Curious Fox Another web-site where people can list their family interests by village
	Bolsover Surnames An index to the documented surnames of Bolsover, Derbyshire collated by Mike SPATHAKY.
	FamilySearch Holds loads of the LDS' records, such as the IGI. A good place to do a general search.
	FreeBMD A transcribed, searchable index of UK birth, marriage and death certifcates held by the GRO. Continually updated and all the work is done by volunteers. Related to the FreeBMD and FreeREG projects.
	Find My Past A wide range of records to look at, particularly: birth, marriges and deaths, census, military and occupational.
	FreeCEN A transcribed, searchable index of UK census records. Still in its early stages, continually updated and all the work is done by volunteers. Related to the FreeBMD and FreeCEN projects.
	FreeREG A transcribed, searchable index of UK parish records. Still in its early stages, continually updated and all the work is done by volunteers. Related to the FreeCEN and FreeREG projects.
	Genes Reunited I have been told that some people use it to simply collect information. Not in itself a bad thing, but if they don't check against updates, they tend to propogate errors, etc, which can lead to later problems.
	GenUKI Some counties have more information than others, but they can point you in the direction of many more sources of information and records, not to mention giving you an idea of where everything is geographically.
	Historical Directories A digital library of local and trade directories for England and Wales, covering 1750 to 1919.
	Glamorgan Families A list of people's interests in the county.
	Hugh WALLIS's Site A portal on the FamilySearch site that allows easier searching of the IGI.
	Jim FISHER's Genealogy & Family History Site Like my own site, this started off as private interests. Unlike me, the helpful Jim FISHER has tonnes more information about the areas he's interested in available, including some very good photos.
	Letters Home A site maintained by Bob SANDERS holding a collection of letters posted to or within England prior to 1952. Some interesting reads.
	Lost Cousins Lost Cousins is another match up site, but works by matching up 1880 (USA) and 1881 (UK) census records. So if you input that your x great grandfather Joe BLOGGS was in a particular household and someone else also has the same household, you will bot
	National Archives: Documents Online Access to the (UK) National Archives digitised public records.
	My Heritage Another match up site that compares uploaded GEDCOMs, but allows more community interaction than the others.
	Newsplan Cymru Where holdings of (old) Welsh newspapers can be found.
	One-Step Web-Pages A portal site by Stephen MORSE giving easy access to records from many web-sites.
	Origins Network A comprehensive collection of British, Irish and Scottish records.
	RootsChat Another set of forums, predominantly for discussing UK and Irish genealogy.
	RootsWeb There are searchable family trees on this site, but it is primarily a place to contact people with similar interests. I find the mailing lists particularly useful.
	The Commonwealth War Graves Commission Graves of Commonwealth casualties from the two World Wars.
	The Gazettes Online The London, Edinburgh and Belfast Gazettes have published a lot of notices over the years, it being a legal requirement for many processes, such as bankrupties, dissolved partnerships, divorces, etc.
	The Lancashire On-line Parish Clerk Some useful transcriptions of parish records and memorials.
	The Ships List Passenger lists and more from all around the world.
	The Staveley One Place Study All about Staveley, Derbyshire
	UK 1901 Census
	The Wirksworth One Place Study All about Wirksworth, Derbyshire
	UK BMD Links to online transcriptions of UK birth, marriage and death certficates and also census records.
	UK BDM Exchange A site to list the certifcates you have, particularly the ones that don't "belong", so that they may some day find a "rightful owner".
	UK Genealogy Archives An ongoing project that is continually updated. Some areas are better covered than others.
	UKGen UK-centric genealogy forums.
	US GenWeb Census Project A volunteer-run project to transcribe the American census records and make them available throught the Internet.
	Whitchurch & Llandaff North A web-site run by Steve NICHOLAS has all sorts of photos, oddments and snippets of history about this Glamorgan area.
	World Gen Web Online Digital Archives Database of transcribed records. Everything has been contributed by other researchers.
	Yesterday's Journey Michael SPENCER's site indexing some of the historic documents of Derbyshire (with a few other counties thrown in).
